Episode 11: Darya Klishina, Athletics

At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Darya Klishina cast a lonely figure.

The long jumper was the only Russian athlete permitted to compete in the Athletics competition at those Games.

Following the outcome of the McLaren report into state-sponsored doping in Russia, Darya was able to prove herself a clean athlete, having lived and trained in America for 3 years.

In this podcast, Darya talks about that rollercoaster week in Rio and how she hopes her Olympic experience will be more enjoyable in Tokyo.

Plus, we hear about her early life in Russia, how she’s learnt to speak English thanks to her life-changing move to the USA and her recent step into the music industry.
